If you’ve ever started looking for a new job, you know how stressful it can be.

You put in resume after resume, hoping to at least get a screener call so you can get the ball rolling. You may put in 10, 20, or more job applications. Each one of those applications takes an average of 30-60 minutes to complete. It's a lot to go through, and sometimes you may find yourself asking if it is even worth it to put in one more application.

That’s why it’s so important to get a good understanding of a company’s hiring process and company culture before submitting a job application. Few things are worse than going through the multiple steps of submitting a job application only to find out the culture is not what you’re looking for.

If you’re considering applying to one of our current job openings, you may be wanting more insight into what it’s like to apply to work at Formstack. We could tell you all about our hiring process and culture (and great perks!) in a more traditional blog post, but we think it’s better to hear it from our employees in a more authentic and personal way.

Below, you’ll find a post originally written and shared on LinkedIn by Lukas Buller, who recently joined the Formstack team as our Partner Enablement Manager. He shares openly about his experience with Formstack's hiring process and what makes Formstack’s culture so special.

Did you know? Instagram is a great place to see Formstack’s culture play out. From how employees use their half day Fridays to pics of ‘Stacker’s pets, it’s a great way to get a feel of our culture in a simple snapshot.

Getting Hired at Formstack: Reflections on My Journey

"I wanted to thank some people at Formstack specifically for their help and guidance.

Last November, I reached out to Ken Medley about a position there on his team. He reached out and told me about a different position that might be a better fit. That's where I met Eva Maria Kühnert. I had a great conversation with her about the role and got to know her and Formstack a bit better.

Rightfully so, I didn't move forward into that role because I didn't have the experience needed. That was my first clue that Formstack was a great company. They won't put someone into a role they won't succeed in. Eva told me after that process that she would keep an eye out for other roles in the company that might be a good fit. I have heard that hundreds of times in my career so I wrote it off to be honest.

Then in January, I got an email from Eva telling me that she had shared my profile with Zak Pines on the Partnership team and he wanted to meet me. She asked if I was interested and I decided to see what Partnerships were all about. Zak and I had a quick call, discussed a couple of roles on the Partnership team and decided on a role that would be a good fit. I reached out to Erin Retka to see if she could put in a good word for me, and she did! That's when I got to meet Bryce DeHart.

Bryce is the Partner Growth Manager and is the lead of the team. From the first few minutes of interacting with Bryce, I knew that I could work for him. He was encouraging, kind, and professional. I could see how passionate he was about the Partner program and I found myself wanting to be on that team even more.

The interview process at Formstack was very smooth and the communication was outstanding. Throughout the process I found myself wanting to work for Zak, Bryce, and Formstack as a whole. I'm ever so grateful for the time that all of the individuals gave me during the entire hiring process.

I'm telling you all of this because it's hard to believe companies like Formstack exist. I've heard about them but rarely encountered them. For leaders to follow through on commitments during an interview phase to Justin being excited that my dad runs a cow/calf operation, it's hard to explain the feeling that I have entering into this new phase of my career.

So thank you to everyone who made this possible. I'm forever grateful and I can't wait to get started!"
